Candidates who made the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife their first choice in the 2018 UTME and scored 200 and above, and those who applied for Direct Entry (DE) are hereby informed to log on to the admissions portal, admissions.oauife.edu.ng or the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife website (www.oauife.edu.ng) to register for the POST-UTME screening exercise effective from August 6, 2018.
Candidates are required to visit admissions.oauife.edu.ng and login with their JAMB Registration Number to commence the on-line registration process for the screening exercise. Candidates will be required to obtain an RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) from this site only, and use it to make payment online or at any commercial bank.
Applicants for the Screening Exercise will be required to do the following on the University admissions portal
1. Update JAMB data
2. Upload Results (i.e WAEC, NECO, JUPEB, ND, NCE etc)
3. Upload scanned copy of credentials
4. Upload passport photograph (if not available)
5. Print completed Admission Screening form
Applicants that provide false information, or upload incorrect credentials will automatically be disqualified.
The closing date for screening of all candidates UTME/DE is 31st August 2018.
Candidates will also be required to participate in the Post-UTME screening on their allotted date and time between 1st and 7th September, 2018.
Applicants should note that the screening fee is N2,000. They will however be required to pay appropriate bank charges.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, has lauded the striking selflessness and staunch support of an “Ife-Med” alumnus in the Diaspora, Professor Francis Achike, for the College of Health Sciences and the University in general, noting that such gesture is worthy of emulation by the teeming alumni of the University.
Professor Ogunbodede made this appreciative remark when the United States-based Professor of Pharmacology, Anaesthesiology and Medical Education paid him a courtesy visit at the end of his two-day working visit to the College of Health Sciences, which saw him hold a Preceptorship workshop for staff and students of the College at his own expense.
The Vice-Chancellor, having been properly informed by the Provost of the College, Professor Kayode Ijadunola, of the immense sacrifices Professor Achike made to ensure that the workshop held inspite of the challenges encountered, noted that he was not surprised that the alumnus, a thorough-bred product of the College, was that selfless in ensuring the success of the receptorship programme, adding that he would have been surprised if the report had been otherwise.
Professor Ogunbodede highlighting further highlighted areas that the University is seeking assistance with respect to the generality of its academic programmes, said the University administration is very committed to ensuring that conducive environment exists for teaching and learning as well as for cutting-edge research in furtherance of the initiative to return the University to the glorious years when none compared to it not only in the country, but also on the continent.
While responding, the guest, who was accompanied to the office of the Vice-Chancellor by the College Provost, Professor Ijadunola; his deputy, Professor Salako; the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Professor Adegbehingbe; the Chair of the College’s Alumni Programme, Professor Amusa; Professor Adegbehingbe of the Department of Orthopaedics; and Dr. Adefehinti of the Department of Paediatrics, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for heart warming reception he got since arriving on campus.
Professor Achike told the Vice-Chancellor that he was impressed by the state of the facilities he met on ground, hinting that he had been apprehensive about coming to meet facilities in a state of disrepair. He assured that he would redouble his efforts and commitment to the College and University’s alumni bodies, even as he called on other alumni to heed the call of their alma-mater and come to her aid.
The visitor commended the University for sticking to the foundation laid by Professor T.A.I. Grillo of blessed memory, for the College which focussed inter-disciplinary training of professionals, stating that what late Professor Grillo started then and which is still operational today, is what the World Health Organization (WHO) is advocating and canvassing now as ideal for training medical and health professionals.
Reliving his days as a student, Professor Francis Achike narrated that he was admitted into the University in 1972, the year the University clocked ten (10) years, and that it was Professor Hezekiah Oluwasanmi that was the Vice-Chancellor then. “I remember vividly their orientation programme at the Foyer of the Administrative Building then, now Faculty of Agriculture; that visionary leader, Chief Awolowo addressed us. He said the University was founded on the philosophy of the “3A”s viz: Academic excellence, Agriculture and Architecture that would last beyond the 21st century. He said the dream was to have the most beautiful campus in Africa even though the University’s estate then was the second largest in world”, Professor Achike narrated.
Professor Francis Achike is the current Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation, and Chair of the Faculty Council, California University of Science and Medicine, School of Medicine, California, USA.
